France updates legislation on alternative investment funds

On 5 August 2025, the French government published a decree in the Journal Officiel introducing a modernised legal framework for AIFs. This decree introduces amendments that are aligned with Regulation (EU) 2023/606 on ELTIFs. The changes primarily affect portfolio management companies and investors.
The decree updates various provisions of the Code Monétaire et Financier, particularly regarding the composition of assets for real estate investment vehicles such as SCPI (Sociétés Civiles de Placement Immobilier) and FCPE (Fonds Commun de Placement d'Entreprise).
